Spartan blueberries are very large, mildly sweet berry with a spectacular crimson red to yellow stemmed colour in the winter.  Blueberry Spartan is a favourite at car boot sales and the home grower.  Spartan blueberry bushes will grow to 4-6ft in a stocky upright habit.

Where to Plant

Spartan blueberry plants can be pernickety with soil types, requiring the site to be light, and well drained. Amend the soil with ericaceous compost to ensure planting area is pH 4.5-5.0.  Water well first year or until established. Fertilise each year with ericaceous fertiliser.
