Description

Sorbus aucuparia or Rowan Tree is mainly grown for its feathery like leaves and attractive small 5-petalled flowers followed by colourful red berries in autumn. The red berries are a good source of food for birds in the winter, and the creamy small white flowers attract insects in the summer.  Rowan being native to the UK is a hardy, medium sized tree with a conical shape and easy to grow.  It also provides good autumn leaf colour with shades of orange and deep orange.

Where to Plant

Rowans should be planted in well-draining soil, and sunny position for best results.  They can tolerate exposed sites making them perfect for wind screening. Ultimate height and spread - 5-10m x 5-10m in about 15-20 years.

NOTE: ScotPlants Direct can only supply Bareroot Trees when they are dormant during the winter months but you can PRE ORDER now to ensure an early delivery date at the start of the season in November.
