Characteristics

Soleil d Or (Yellow) Pyracantha Plants commonly known as 'Firethorn'  is a very dense, spiny evergreen shrub that is more than perfect for keeping intruders at bay. Yellow Pyracantha Plants are chosen for their profuse yellow berries in autumn and fragrant white / cream flowers making this attractive to wildlife

They can grow up to 6m if left unpruned and the large spines are a natural impenetrable security barrier for gardens. They are valuable ornamental plants due to their decorative flowers and coloured fruit.  Heights and spreads are similar - 1.5-3m x 1.5x3m. 

Where to Plant

Plant in full sun to partial shade, well-draining, moist soil.  They can be drought tolerant when mature.  Prune regularly to maintain shape.  Pyracantha can grow up to 6m if left unpruned.  Make sure you wear good gloves, as the thorns are large and sharp!.  Plant 3-5 per metre, single row for hedge.
