Rhododendron Red Jack - Hardy Hybrid

Characteristics

Stunning and electrifying bright red conical / tunnel shaped flowers and a ruffled lip in summer make Rhododendron Red Jack a most sought after specimen for many gardens. What a wake up call for incoming Spring!!  This little evergreen shrub has a bushy, rounded growth habit and is a perfect plant for all gardens, containers, beds and borders, wallsides, banks,  and slopes.  Low maintenance.  Fully Hardy with a flowering period from May to June.  

Where to Plant

Plant partial shade, moist, well draining soil (clay, loamy, sandy) . Avoid planting rhododendrons too deeply as their roots are shallow.  Each spring apply a generous mound of mulch around the rootbase, about 5-7cm.  Ideal soil pH 4.5-6.  Ultimate height – 3m x 3m after 10-15 years.
