Characteristics

Joan J primocane raspberry canes are high yielding, large fruits cropping in the first half of its fruiting period.  Berries can be about 30% larger than Autumn Bliss, brighter, firmer and juicier.  Joan J raspberry canes have a flavour that cannot be missed and its spine free canes makes picking the fruit so much easier.  Harvesting the fruit begins about end of July / early August to October. 

Raspberry Joan J canes are very popular as they produce fruit on the current year’s growth being a primocane.

Joan J raspberries freeze well without the increase in acidity often found in other varieties and the taste is second to none.

Where to Plant

Planting raspberry canes should be in moist, well-draining, soil full sun as that will produce the best fruit.  Plant in rows about 2ft apart.  Avoid deep planting  no more than about 2 inches.  Make sure the soil is not waterlogged or frozen.
