Wild Pear 40/60cm Bare Root (Pyrus communis)
PRODUCT CODE: PC-BR-40/60
Wild Pear - Pyrus Communis
Wild Pear has grown in the UK for thousands of years and is considered by some to be native to the UK. Wild pear has small white flowers in spring followed by pear shaped fruit that are hard and sharp to the taste. It can form a dense thorny hedge and will grow in almost any position. It is an excellent wildlife plant to include in woodlands, hedges, or as a specimen tree as they make an excellent food source for wildlife. Spring blossoms attract bees and other insects and in the autumn birds and other small animals love the fruit. It is a medium growing plant that can be used as an alternative to Hawthorn thanks to its thorns which would make an impenetrable, dense hedge. Wild pear would also be good to include in any native hedgerows.
