Description

Pyrus Chanticleer has also been noted to be 'perfect avenue' tree and is one of the most popular ornamental pear trees for UK, European and American streets. This ornamental pear tree is a medium sized, somewhat quick growing, and deciduous tree with an upright, tightly branched habit native of China.  This slender tree is ideal for small gardens, can be used for pleeching, parkland planting, and screening.  Spring will see profuse slightly scented, white flowers covering its slender branches, a truly spectacular sight.  Chanticleer has small green leaves that turn red and purple in autumn and can stay on the tree until Christmas.  Pyrus Chanticleer is a good windscreen as it is fairly resistant to salt winds, can tolerate air pollution, and is resistant to diseases and blight.

Where to Plant
