Description
Magnolia Baby Blue is the exquisite new magnolia hybrid that reveals its fabulous intense blue colour from its parent. Magnolia Baby Blue is the result of cross-pollination of Magnolia Blue Opal, with a more intense blue colour. The stunning blue buds turning into dark yellow flowers will be the talk of the neighbourhood gardens as a specimen tree for that smaller garden.
Magnolia Baby Blue blooms will appear in the spring growing in bloom numbers as the tree matures. It also has the advantage of blooming again in the Autumn. Foliage is dark green, contrasting well with the intense blue blooms.
Where to Plant
Plant full sun to partial shade, moist but well-draining soil, neutral to acid. Magnolia acuminata is more tolerant of alkaline soils. Magnolia Baby Blue is hardy in most regions of the UK but may not be tolerant of severe open exposed areas. Hardy to -15c. Ultimate height and spread – can reach heights of up to 15m with a spread of 8cm when mature.
