Description

The holly Little Rascal is an evergreen with shiny green leaves.  It has a very compact growing habit, naturally forming a dense, spherical bush.  Ilex meserveae Little Rascal is a great choice for small gardens, containers, balconies, entrance areas.

Little Rascal is the male variety therefore it does not have fruit, but tiny male flowers appear in May.  When Little Rascal buds, the foliage glows a yellowish green making it a spectacular colour for the garden.  Little Rascal may be a dwarf size, but it is tough as nails.  It is frost hardy and thrives in the sunshine, partial shade or even shade.

Ilex Little Rascal will also provide a show of colour for the autumn, from the dark green in the summer to beautiful violet colour which seems to shimmer in the winter.

 Where to Plant

Little Rascal is tough and is not picky about soil as well – but make sure it is well draining.  After about 5 years it will be about 40cm high and about 30cm wide but will remain under 100cm.
