Field Maple - Acer campestre
Makes a wonderful hedging plant especially in any setting and is very popular as Hawthorn or Blackthorn. Generally Ace Campestre is a medium sized tree growing to about 15m. Colourful specimen with its autumn creamy yellow colour and one of the best native UK trees. Field Maple will tolerate most sites and best on shallow limestone soil. As a hedge, it can be pruned back hard and will create a strong stock proof hedge.
