Purple or Copper Beech (Fagus sylvatica) hedging plants are very popular as hedgerow plants in the UK as they are native and fast growing. Purple Beech or Copper Beech hedging like its cousin green beech retains its leaves in winter providing screening and privacy year-round. It is a little slower growing than green beech, but is stunning as a hedge and is low maintenance. Purple Beech is the perfect alternative to conifer hedging. It is fully hardy and tough.
