Description

Widgeon is a small dwarf variety that has an explosion of reddish pink flowers with darker spots April to May.  Small and attractive, yet stunning variety that maintains a compact habit.

Where to Plant

Plant sun to partial shade, well draining, slightly acidic soil.  Rhododendrons do not like heat, so plant away from areas that may reflect heat. Remember to plant rhododendrons shallow, as they do not like to be planted deep.  Widgen is a tough, hardy plant and will shine in any garden.  Do not apply fertiliser at the time of planting, as new roots and foliage are not ready to handle the high salt content of fertiliser and can be burnt.
