Purple Berberis - Berberis thunbergii atropurpurea Bareroot

Purple leaf Berberis is compact, dense, prickly variety and great security defense.  Purple Berberis has reddish - purple deciduous leaves turning bright red in autumn.  The Berberis stems bear sharp spines and the wood inside the stem is yellow in colour.  Flowers are pale yellow, flushed red in spring with vivid red berries in autumn.  This Purple Berberis is ideal for ushering in colour for the spring to informal borders.  Berberis is again the best natural security barrier as its sharp spikes will keep intruders and unwanted visitors away.
