Description
Prunus laurocerasus rotundifolia or the Common or Cherry laurel the most popular evergreen plant used for privacy, screening, and hedging. It is easy to maintain, provides a hedge that will be there all year round as this hardy evergreen is perfect in the garden.
The Common laurel has glossy dark green leaves with a slightly paler underside. When mature may produce flowers and dark fruit, but Prunus rotundifolia is used mostly for a hedge.
Where to plant
Plant full sun to partial shade, well draining, moist soil. Common Laurel plants are evergreen, quick growing, vigorous and perfect for hedging, screening. They have tiny white flowers in spring with glossy, green, rounded leaves year round. Laurel is tolerant coastal areas. Ultimate height and spread - 5m x 4m. Plant 2.5 per metre (spacing 40cm apart), or 3 in a staggered row.
