How Garden Bamboo Canes are Measured
Bamboo canes are measured at the widest end of the cane using a Vernier measuring tool to provide a more accurate measurement.
Measuring Thickness of Bamboo Garden Canes
This measurement is on a random number of canes from one particular batch and then the average is applied to the total batch of canes – hence 12-14mm or 18-20mm. Due to the way in which bamboo is grown and cut, it is normal for the canes to taper to a degree. There are also many uses for bamboo canes around the garden, such as building a fruit cage to protect from the birds, etc., or a trellis using bamboo. Espaliers can also be built using bamboo canes - be adventurous, think Bamboo!!
