Populus (poplar) Hedging
Populus alba or White Poplar is a deciduous shrub with grey-green leaves, with a white woolly underside, yellow in autumn. Poplar does well in sunlight and stands up well to flood water and slightly acidic soils. It is an attractive ornamental specimen tree in damp areas and because of its extensive root system and tolerance of salt makes for perfect planting in coastal areas. Ideal as specimen tree for gardens, or as windbreak and including in hedging schemes. Poplar hedge plants are fast growing, hardy.
