Goji Berry Plants

Goji Berry Plants (Lycium barbarum)

Lycium barbarum more commonly known as the Goji berry, wolfberry, boxthorn and matrimony vine is one of the super fruit plants that is becoming more and more popular among the ‘grow your own’ style of gardeners.

The Goji berry plant is a deciduous woody shrub, slightly thorny, and can grow to about 6-12ft tall in any space if left unpruned.  They are adaptable to most soil types with a preferred planting environment of pH 6.5 to 7.0 and a good fertile soil.  Goji berry plants do not like salty soils, and they tend to succeed in well drained, moist soils such as sandy loams or loams with loads of sunshine.

  • Water well especially during the establishment years as the root system is fine and can easily dry out (do not overwater)
  • Large crops can be reached in four to five years
  • Fruit is borne on the current year’s wood
  • Goji berries are high in antioxidants, can be eaten fresh, or turned into juice

You can buy Goji Berry Plants at ScotPlants Direct as pot grown, 2-year-old plants ready for your garden.
